Painting surfaces
8x10in and 8x12in wood panels
I double or triple prime 3mm wood panels with white acrylic gesso. I prefer these to canvas at this small size for my portrait painting commissions. That way, when you look closely at the faces, you don't see the canvas texture.
Display ideas:
The 8"x10" and 8"x12" paintings on 3mm wood panel can be displayed on an easel or framed in a standard picture frame - just replace the glass with the painting! I can also build a floater frame for it, but keep in mind the painting will be glued to it.

Canvas:
Canvas:
- 16x20in: 18mm thick Canvars CYAN Premium 380g/m2 (13.4oz) 100% Italian cotton Artist-quality canvas.
- 18x24in & 24x36in:
- Winsor & Newton Professional Cotton Canvas is made from the finest-grade cloth. Premium 480gsm Indian Canvas is hand-stretched for outstanding tension with expertly tailored corners.
- Primed with a pigment rich gesso primer, Winsor & Newton Professional canvases are acid-free, archival quality and beautifully responsive to every brushstroke. Superior, balanced absorbency and tooth give optimal adhesion and uncompromised colour vitality.
- The professionally constructed frames are crafted from kiln-dried, heavy-duty solid pine stretcher bars, which are rigorously tested for warp-resistance.
- I may also build my own using Premium Dressed Pine wood and 10oz double primed, 100% cotton, mid-weight Artist-quality canvas. This allows me flexibility especially in times of urgency (if you secure the booking less than a month in advance or change your package last minute), longer than usual delivery times or no stock availability.

Live painting materials
I use Professional Artist-grade acrylics (Atelier Interactive or Holcroft mainly) as it dries faster, it's cleaner and easier to work with during live wedding paintings and is much less toxic than using oils and solvents (very important for indoor venues and working in my studio!). This also means less drying and varnishing time when it's done, so you'll get your painting sooner! :)
I use either a French box easel or tripod field easel depending on the size and thickness of the canvas.
I have a large canvas drop cloth to protect the floor underneath my easel in an indoor venue.
